Participants of the Isaiah Bible Study, reflect on personal lessons and insights gained from this study. You will read some of the comments below.
SISTER ANNA PATTON
My journey through the book of Isaiah has enlightened me about all the books of the Bible! His prophecy tells me the times then resembles the times now. I was assured of God’s love for me, reminded of His commands (laws), His judgment of sin (wrath), His forgiveness, and most importantly, His sacrifice to save us all! Isaiah reminds us that God is in control of everything, that His Word is rule. My faith and trust in God has truly increased.
DEACONESS ADALENE FULLWOOD
The book of Isaiah was an eye opener and a study of finding who we are with God. We started out with Isaiah’s vision. It was profound! We see accounts of Israel’s sin and their rebellion. Along with that, God gives us hope. Someone will come for the sins of the world. We studied God’s judgement, the Messiah’s coming and His salvation. My favorite part is knowing that as a believer, my name is written in the palm of God’s hand. Isaiah 49:16 “Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.” No matter who loves me or not, the Creator loves me to my core and He shares His love with me. I truly enjoyed this Isaiah study.
SISTER MARY WASHIINGTON
I learned from the book of Isaiah: Don’t worry. All that is happening in this world – be happy because every little thing is going to be alright. Jesus is my Boss over everything.
BROTHER DAVID TOPPIN
We have a loving God who despite our stubborn rebellious nature and refusal to often take a good look at ourselves mirrored in God's Word, He (God) is willing to stretch forth His hand and faithful to restore a right fellowship with Him, knowing that we can accomplish all things only through the indwelling of the Holy spirit within us.
SISTER DORA NICHOLAS-JOHNSON
This study has shown Him to be steadfast in His love for Israel and the world at large. It has shown Him to be faithful in His promises and His provisions towards His people. It has reiterated that His anger is kindled against us, but for a while; and there is always an end to this anger/disappointment/disapproval; and He is always ready for reconciliation and reconnection.
SISTER DENISE ROBBINS
The Book of Isaiah opened my eyes to a lot of trials and tribulations that Israel when through being captive in Babylon because of their sinfulness. But God promised to deliver them no matter what. So whatever circumstance I find myself in, I know for a fact that God has me in the palm of His hand. I know without a shadow of doubt that He loves me just that much – because of the covenant He made to Abraham. God sent His only Son to redeem us and we have the assurance of that when He died on Calvary and rose on the third day. He is my Deliverer! New mercies I see every day! All I have to do is stay connected to Him. Isaiah reminds me to just believe, stay focused and to continue to trust God. He will never let me stray away. I must keep my relationship with Him, study His Word, and stay prayed-up at all times.
DEACONESS BESSIE WILSON
This book is a book of hope. It’s always or sometimes called The Little Bible because it has 66 Chapters – just like the books in the Bible. Hezekiah’s Song of Thanksgiving: He was sick and recovered from his sickness. God added 15 years to his life.
SISTER DEBORAH NEWKIRK
The book of Isaiah represents judgement and salvation to me. The prophet Isaiah speaks God’s Word clearly, denouncing sinful practices of the people. I find these words to be most appropriate today. He offers peace and strength to those who follow God.
SISTER DONNA ALLEN
While studying the Book of Isaiah, I learned that there are 66 chapters. The first 39 chapters carry the message of judgment to Judah, Israel and the surrounding heathen nations. Isaiah’s warnings were intended to purify the people by helping them to understand God’s true nature and message. The people ignored the repeated warnings. The second half of Isaiah consists of 27 chapters that carry the message of forgiveness, comfort, and hope. The message of hope looks forward to the coming of the Messiah.
SISTER ROSALYN WALLACE
I saw a lot of Scriptures in Isaiah that I have heard my whole life. It affirmed that what happened in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John was confirmed in Isaiah years before. I love the book of Isaiah because those Scriptures lets me know that God is still working on our behalf and what He said in Isaiah is like the root of its cause. I see restoration, reassurance and redemption in Isaiah. So, I was resurrected by what Jesus did at Calvary, restored back to the Body of Christ, and redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus.
LAVERNA WEST
I am first and I am last. There is no other God beside me. You need to have an ear to listen to what God said. Be open to hear from Him. To obey God will never lead you wrong if you follow His teaching and advice. God called a stiff-necked person to do His will – but if you don’t, He will move on to someone to call or plan.
TINA HOLMES-WEST
Throughout the Book of Isaiah, I see and hear God! God speaks and He fills the temple in Isaiah’s presence! God calls and Isaiah answers! As we progressed through each chapter, it was interesting to read and closely examine how God promised, blessed, chastised and then blessed His people over and over again. God assures us of His unfailing love! All His promises are “yes and amen!” As believers, we know that even in these troublesome days, God is still on the throne!
